Assessment Method
Chittagong Medical College, abbreviated as CMC, is a public medical college located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. It is the second-oldest and second-largest medical educational institute and hospital in Bangladesh. It is affiliated with the Chittagong Medical University.
Assessment Method
- There will be both in-course / formative (item, card, term) and end-course / summative (professional) assessments for students in each phase (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th) of the MBBS course.

Formative assessment will be conducted through:
- Item examinations
- Card examinations
- Term ending examinations
- Weightage from integrated teaching
- Class attendance
- For formative assessment, 10% marks of the written examination of each paper of each subject are allocated.

MCQ in Written Examination:
- MCQ carries 20% marks of each written paper.

MCQ distribution:
- Single Best Answer (SBA): 50%
- Multiple True False (MTF): 50%
- This distribution applies to both formative and summative assessments.
- There will be a separate answer script for the MCQ section.

Total MCQs: 20 questions for 20 marks
- 10 marks for SBA
- 10 marks for MTF

SAQ & SEQ in Written Examination:
- Short Answer Questions (SAQ) and Structured Essay Questions (SEQ) together carry 70% marks.

Distribution within 70%:
- Structured Essay Questions (SEQ): approximately 25%
- Short Answer Questions (SAQ): approximately 75%
- This applies to both formative and summative assessments of all MBBS subjects.
- The oral part of the examination will be conducted as a Structured Oral Examination (SOE).

OSPE / OSCE will be used to assess skills and competencies.
Traditional long cases and short cases will also be used for clinical assessment. - There will be a phase-final professional examination within each academic phase.
