Admission Criteria

Chittagong Medical College, abbreviated as CMC, is a public medical college located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. It is the second-oldest and second-largest medical educational institute and hospital in Bangladesh. It is affiliated with the Chittagong Medical University.

Admission Criteria

Admission to MBBS and BDS programs in Bangladesh for 2025–26 requires passing SSC (2022/2023) and HSC (2024/2025) in Science with a combined minimum GPA of 8.5–9.0 (varies by year/quota) and a minimum 3.5–4.0 in Biology. Admission is based on a national competitive examination (100 marks) focusing on Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, critical thinking and General Knowledge.

Key Admission Criteria

  • Academic Background: Must have passed HSC/A-Level (or equivalent) in the Science group with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Academic Years: SSC/O-level must be passed in 2022 or later; HSC/A-level must be passed in 2024 or 2025.
  • GPA Requirements (General):
    • Minimum combined GPA (SSC + HSC) of 8.50 – 9.00
    • Minimum GPA of 4.00 in each of the SSC and HSC examinations
    • Minimum GPA of 4.00 in Biology at the HSC level
  • GPA Requirements (Tribal/Hill Tract): Total combined GPA must be at least 8.00, with a minimum 3.50 in each exam.

  • Total Marks: 100 (MCQ)

Biology – 30 Chemistry – 25 Physics – 20 English – 15 Critical Thinking & General Knowledge – 10

  • MBBS: 5,100 seats
  • BDS: 545 seats
  • Private Colleges: Approx. 7,406 seats

Foreign Students

Must have passed Class 10 and 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, often with a minimum GPA of 7.0 combined, and apply through the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).
